Purpose: The purpose of The Great Education Forum is to encourage the American church to stop ignoring the vital issue of education for the fulfillment of the Great Commission in the next generation, and to instead be like Bereans and compare what is said at the Forum to the Word of God.
Format: Five speakers will have twenty minutes each to present their positions followed by a Q&A session.
Anti- Public School:
Mr. Ray Fournier, a high school science teacher with 15 years of experience in the public schools, author of Education Reformation, and co-founder of Worldview Christian Academy providing distance learning from a Biblical Worldview. Mr. Fournier brings a gospel-centered, Great Commission focused, Biblical case against public education. His presentation will focus on the deliberate religious indoctrination of public education and its effect on the gospel.
Mr. Kevin R. Novak is a home school tutor and Alliance Christian Academy administrator, education attorney, and Deconstructing the Coliseum President. Deconstructing the Coliseum is the organization that promotes civil government school system abolition, on which Mr. Novak will be presenting.
Rev. E. Ray Moore, Chaplain (Lt. Col.) USAR Ret is founder and director of the Exodus Mandate Project. He is author of LET MY CHILDREN GO and co-author with his wife, Gail, of the THE PROMISE OF JONADAB: Building a Christian Family Legacy in a Time of Cultural Decline. Ray is also Exec Producer of the award winning film INDOCTRINATION. Rev. Moore will address the history of state-sponsored public education in America and the resurgence of K-12 Christian education and home schooling in the modern era. Rev. Moore will then speak about the misuse of the “salt and light” argument and The Great Commission as an excuse to send children to the public schools. Finally, he will discuss the ramifications of Common Core and explain how parents can overcome obstacles to Christian education.
Professor Taz Daughtrey has been a science educator in public high schools and universities in Virginia. He serves as a scientific consultant for the Clergy Letter Project and organized several Evolution/Creation Weekend events in cooperation with other faith communities. Taz is co-author of “Why Evolution Should Be Taught As An Argument.” He is an active lay leader at Peakland Baptist Church in Lynchburg, Virginia.
Dr. Michael O’Brien has been the Lead Pastor at Redeeming Grace Baptist Church for about ten years. Prior to accepting the role of full-time pastor at RGBC, Pastor Mike served as Assistant Professor and Associate Dean of Men at Liberty Baptist Seminary/Liberty University. Pastor Mike received his Master of Theology degree from Capitol Bible Seminary and has studied at Dallas Theological Seminary. He received his Doctorate in Ministry from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. While he home-schools his three children Seth (11), Luke (9), and Lacy (7), he believes that parents have the Christian liberty to send their children to the public schools.
